The Nation's Leading Association of Certified Commissioning Authorities
Press Releases:

Washington, D.C. – The AABC Commissioning Group (ACG) has scheduled the first public administration of the ACG certification exam on February 8, 2005, at the AHR Expo in Orlando, Florida. Applicants for the exam must be registered architects or engineers.

The exam, which was developed this year by the ACG Steering Committee in close consultation with a psychometric organization, will test the candidate’s knowledge of the commissioning process as outlined in the ACG Commissioning Guideline. Those receiving a passing score on the exam are awarded the designation of ACG Certified Commissioning Authority (CxA).

The ACG exam consists of 100 multiple-choice questions, 84 of which are based on information in the ACG Commissioning Guideline. The remaining 16 questions are related to practical field experience with HVAC systems and controls.

The exam has been beta tested by over 40 individuals who are actively engaged in providing commissioning services, with a passing rate of slightly more than 50%. The results from the beta test are encouraging in that nearly all participants believe the exam is fair and comprehensive.

“There is no question the exam will test the candidate’s knowledge of the commissioning process,” says Dan Acri, President of ACG. “It is advisable however that candidates study the ACG Guideline before taking the exam,” he adds.
