ACG Endorsed Training

ACG has partnered with the Engineered Air Balance (EAB) Training Center to provide discounts on specialized training opportunities exclusively for ACG members, supporting the advancement of the commissioning industry.

This collaboration ensures that ACG members, including Certified Commissioning Authorities (CxAs) and commissioning technicians, have access to high-quality training programs designed to enhance their expertise and skills.

The Commissioning Electrical Power Systems course teaches students with limited electrical knowledge the commissioning process for Standard Power Systems, Emergency Power Systems, and Lighting Control Systems. Offering comprehensive instructions in classroom and practical formats, students learn the completion of electrical System Verification Checklists (SVCs) and Functional Performance Tests (FPTs). The Electrical Power Systems covers power fundamentals, equipment, coordination studies, applicable codes, and much more. It aims to impart a basic understanding of electrical fundamentals and commercial building power systems, including NETA testing for key components. The Emergency Power Systems focuses on emergency power components, sequencing, and testing, ensuring participants gain proficiency in emergency power equipment and functionality. Meanwhile, the Lighting Control Systems delves into energy code requirements, lighting control devices, and commissioning best practices, with a goal of proficient understanding in these areas. At the conclusion of the course, the participant performs a commissioning exercise of a commercial building’s power, emergency power and lighting systems under the supervision of an experienced commissioning provider.

  • Electrical System Checklists and FPTs
  • Electrical Theory
  • Overview of NFPA 70 National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Motors, Starters, and VFDs
  • Overcurrent Protection including Selective Coordination
  • Emergency Power systems including an introduction to applicable codes
  • Overview of NFPA 99 Health Care Facilities Code
  • NETA Testing
  • Equipment Review – Panelboards, Lighting Panels, Switchboard, Switchgear
  • Lighting Control

The Commissioning Plumbing Systems course is a comprehensive program of instruction that will provide both classroom and technical instruction on all aspects of plumbing systems in modern commercial buildings. The course will cover relevant codes and standards as well as basic design intent of supply systems, storm and sewer systems as well as renewable systems such as rainwater harvesting and greywater reclamation. The course will include detailed instruction on supply pressure boosting equipment, tanks and level controls, pressure reducing valves, and hot water circulation systems. Participants will have a mix of classroom instruction and technical hands-on demonstrations. At the conclusion of the course, the participant will have a proficient understanding of design intent and functionality of typical commercial building plumbing systems.

The Commissioning Life Safety Systems course is a detailed program of instruction that will provide both classroom and technical instruction on life safety code requirements and functionality for control of fire alarm, fire suppression and smoke control systems. The course will cover fire sprinkler system components and controls, dry-pipe systems, fire pumps and controllers, fire tanks and level controls, flow testing and fire alarm monitoring and integration. The course will also include detailed instruction on testing fire alarms systems and engineered smoke control systems in large commercial, healthcare and public assembly facilities. Participants will have a mix of classroom instruction and technical hands-on demonstrations. At the conclusion of the course, the participant will have a proficient understanding of life safety code requirements in addition to operation, testing and commissioning best practices of fire suppression systems, fire alarm systems and engineered smoke control systems.
